Oregon Driver Education Center (ODEC) is dedicated to the single purpose of saving lives. Every year, nearly 43,000 Americans lose their lives on our Nation’s roads. We invite you to explore our site and learn more about the latest in safe driver training with professional driving instructors. We offer courses and programs for teens, adult new drivers and medically at risk drivers. Additionally, we have extensive training available for private and public institutions of all sizes.
ODEC has a 30+ year history of providing patient and professional driver training throughout the greater Portland and Salem areas from state certified instructors.
Available Courses
DDC-4 (Defensive Driving Course - 4 Hours: Provides a cost effective way to make sure drivers know how to develop safe defensive habits and attitudes.
Coaching the Van Driver II Classroom: 15 passenger vans carrying 10 or more occupants have a ROLLOVER RATE 3 TIMES GREATER than that of a lightly loaded van. For this reason, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recommends that 15 passenger vans be operated by trained experienced drivers.

We offer the National Safety Council’s coaching the Van Driver II course, which includes certification for your drivers. This 3 hour course can be held at your location. For more information, or to schedule a class, call ODEC at: 503-581-3783.
Simulator Training: This state-of-the-art, self contained, virtual driving environment allows drivers to practice perishable skills: decision making, emergency response, defensive driving, evasive driving, judgment and muscle memory response, spatial assessment, inclement weather skills, surface appraisal, visual acuity, steering control, throttle and braking skills.
Behind-The-Wheel On-Road Training & Assessment: Our instructors are able to provide lessons tailored to the individual needs of both novice and experienced drivers. International students and nervous drivers welcome!
Refund Policy
ODEC is in the Business of providing a service, namely the service of providing training and knowledge. Knowledge is a non-material commodity that cannot be returned or exchanged; therefore we cannot refund money and services. Payment is due in full prior to the first day of instruction. If not paid in full, the hourly of "STANDARD" price will be assessed for instructional packages. If the account has no activity (scheduled driving or classes) for a period in excess of 6 months then a $25.00 reactivation fee will be charged prior to the first day. Our drivers are only paid for the time they drive. If a student cancels a lesson (scheduled driving or classroom instruction) with less than 48 hours notice, has no permit or is otherwise unable to conduct the scheduled lesson then lesson will be forfeited with no refund. Any and all charges must be paid in full before a certificate of completion will be issued. Lost, damaged, or missing certificates of completion can be replaced with a duplicate for a handling fee of $10.00
